The UCLA Library's two millionth book, a 1513 edition of Plato's Omnia Opera by the Aldine press, is examined by Chancellor Franklin D. Murphy at the 1964 presentation ceremony. Seated with the chancellor are University Librarian Robert Vosper, (left), Regent Edward W. Carter, and Mrs. Elmer Belt. Standing are (from left) Dr. Elmer Belt, Prof. Majl Ewing, UCLA Alumni Association President W. Thomas Davis, and Prof. C.D.O'Malley. Mrs. Belt, Chancellor Murphy, Regent Carter, and Mr. Davis were among the donors of the work, along with Regent Norton Simon, Regent Mrs. Edward H. Heller, and Dr. Robert Moss, president of the Friends of the UCLA Library.(inscribed)
